Before you order
Pick your room at the top of this page. The kit that fits is shown on its ceiling, to scale, with its length and width.
Even light from corner to corner, with no hard shadows. Kits run from 10,350 lumens on the 3-Grid to 66,240 on the 25-Grid.
Lay it out on the floor, click the tubes into the connectors and test it. Then lift it and fix it to the ceiling. An afternoon with a helper. See the install guide.
Not to plug them in. The kit goes into a standard power point, with one 1.5 m cord for the whole kit. A border has its own cord, so it needs a second socket. To put it on a wall switch, use a licensed electrician.
The tubes, the connectors, hanging cables, fixings and the power cord. Every kit ships complete. Spare tubes, connectors and cords are on the shelf too.
Yes. Every tube, connector and cord is stocked on its own, so you can extend the layout across a bigger ceiling, add a border, or change the shape whenever you like.
Yes. ULTRABEAM is RCM marked and EMC tested against AS/NZS standards, and ships with an earthed 3-pin AU plug.
Flush to the ceiling, or dropped on the included suspension cables for higher ceilings. It works on plasterboard, concrete, timber and steel.
They use about 60% less power than the fluoros they replace. The LEDs are rated to 50,000 hours. Every tube has its own driver, so one fault does not take out the kit.
Yes. The same lights come in 16 bigger sizes for sheds, workshops and showrooms. The longest is 9.8 m.
Sizing and install guide
Size and hang hexagon garage lights yourself
What to measure, how bright to go and how the kit goes up. Tap a question to open it.
It comes down to the room. A 6 x 6 m double garage takes one 25-Grid kit across both bays. Or fit a 5-Grid over each bay. A 3 x 6 m single garage takes one kit run lengthways, from 6 to 23 hexagons. One car bay suits 3 to 8 hexagons.
Work it out from the floor area. General parking needs about 100 to 200 lumens a square metre. A workshop wants 300 to 500, and a detailing bay 500 to 750. A showroom look starts around 750. Over a 6 x 6 m double garage, the 25-Grid gives about 1,840 lumens a square metre. A ceiling over 2.7 m or dark walls call for a bigger kit.
Measure the clear ceiling between the walls, the door tracks and the opener rail. Sizes read length by width. A 4.5 x 2.5 m kit is 4.5 m long. In a single garage, run it lengthways, the way the car parks. Check a power point sits within reach of the 1.5 m cord. A lit border makes the kit a little larger, and its size is on the kit page.
Split the light around it. In a double garage, fit two 11-Grid C kits, one each side of the motor. In a single garage, a 9-Grid C sits behind the motor. Over one bay, a 5-Grid B fits behind it. The door motor switch at the top of this page shows each one on the ceiling.
- Clear a patch of floor the size of the kit and lay out the parts.
- Click each tube into its connector until you feel it seat.
- Plug it in and check every tube lights up.
- Mark the ceiling, lift the kit with a helper and screw through the connector holes, not the tubes. On plasterboard, use wall plugs or toggle bolts.
- Run the cord along the ceiling to the power point with cable clips, and switch on.
You need a drill, a step ladder, a tape measure and a pencil.
A batten puts one line of light on the ceiling. A hexagon kit spreads 15 to 96 tubes across it, so light reaches the car from every side. You get even light corner to corner, with no hard shadows under the bonnet.
Daylight white. Every ULTRABEAM kit is 6500K, the colour of the midday sun. Warm white around 3000K suits a lounge, and it softens every colour. At 6500K and CRI 85, you see your paint as it really is. Wire colours and wood grain read clearly too.
A border frames the hexagons in a line of light. Cool Daylight matches the kit, and Blue or Red add colour. Every size comes with or without one, and most come in all three. The border has its own cord, so it needs a second power point. Pick a border at the top of this page to see it on the ceiling.
