Swap any tile in seconds

How to Replace Interlocking Garage Tiles

One of the biggest advantages of interlocking tiles is that any single tile can be replaced quickly. The method depends on whether you have vented or solid tiles.

Preparation

  • Identify which tile(s) need replacing
  • Check if your tiles are vented (ULTRAGRID, ULTRACORE, ULTRAFLUX) or solid (ULTRATUFF, ULTRATONE)
  • Clear the area around the tile — move any items sitting on it
  • Have the replacement tile(s) ready

01

Step 01

Identify the Tile

1 min

Find the tile that needs replacing. Note whether it’s a vented or solid tile — the removal method is different for each.

  • Locate the damaged, stained or worn tile you want to swap
  • Check if it’s a full tile or a cut piece — cut pieces will need to be re-cut to match
  • Determine your tile type: vented (ULTRAGRID, ULTRACORE, ULTRAFLUX have visible ribs) or solid (ULTRATUFF, ULTRATONE have a flat sealed surface)
  • If the tile is under furniture or a vehicle, move those first

Pro tip

Keep a few spare tiles from your original order. Colour batches can vary slightly, so tiles from the same order will be the closest match.

02

Step 02

Remove a Vented Tile

1-2 min

For vented tiles (ULTRAGRID, ULTRACORE, ULTRAFLUX), the open ribs give you something to hook onto. Use a hook tool to grab a rib and pull the corners where the straight tabs meet.

  • Each tile has two sides with straight tabs and two sides with loops — you need to disconnect where the straight tabs meet
  • Use a hook tool to grab onto one of the ribs on the tile surface
  • Pull upwards at the corners where the straight tabs connect to the neighbouring tile
  • Once those corners release, disconnect the remaining tabs and lift the tile out

Pro tip

Two sides of every tile have straight tabs and two have loops. Focus on the straight-tab corners first — they release more easily.

03

Step 03

Remove a Solid Tile

2-5 min

For solid tiles (ULTRATUFF, ULTRATONE), there’s no rib to hook onto. Start from the nearest wall and disconnect the row to reach the tile you need to swap.

  • Solid tiles have a flat sealed surface with nothing to hook onto mid-floor
  • Start from the nearest wall or edge — disconnect the row of tiles leading to the one you need to replace
  • Lift each tile in the row from the edge inwards until you reach the damaged tile
  • Remove the damaged tile, then relay the row back towards the wall

Pro tip

Stack the tiles you lift in order so you can relay them quickly. The whole process is still fast — just a few extra tiles to handle.

04

Step 04

Click In the Replacement

1-2 min

Drop the new tile in, align the tabs and loops, and press down. You’ll hear the familiar click when it’s locked.

  • Sweep or wipe the exposed concrete to remove any debris
  • Align the replacement tile’s tabs with the surrounding loops
  • Press down firmly until the tile clicks into place on all sides
  • Step on the edges to confirm the tile is fully locked in

Pro tip

A rubber mallet helps lock the tile in snugly, especially if you’re replacing a tile in the middle of a large floor area.

Replacement Questions

For vented tiles (ULTRAGRID, ULTRACORE, ULTRAFLUX) — yes, use a hook tool to pull the tile out individually. For solid tiles (ULTRATUFF, ULTRATONE), you’ll need to disconnect tiles from the nearest wall to reach it, but it’s still a quick job.

You can order individual tiles or packs directly from our store. Just choose the same range and colour. If you’re unsure of your colour, check your original order confirmation or contact our team.

Tiles from the same production run will be the best match. We recommend ordering a few spares with your initial purchase. If ordering later, colour matching is generally very close but minor batch variations are possible.

Absolutely. Our tiles are designed to be lifted and reinstalled. Start from one corner, stack tiles as you go, and relay them in your new space. Most customers complete a full uplift in 2–3 hours.
