What you'll need

Broom or vacuum
For regular sweeping — removes dust, dirt and loose debris
Mop and bucket
Standard flat mop or string mop works fine
Mild detergent
Dish soap or general-purpose cleaner diluted in warm water
Garden hose
For rinsing vented tiles (ULTRAGRID, ULTRACORE, ULTRAFLUX)
Degreaser or isopropyl alcohol
For stubborn oil, grease or tyre marks
Soft-bristle brush
For scrubbing textured tile surfaces

Preparation

  • Move vehicles and large items off the floor
  • Sweep or vacuum the entire floor first
  • Identify any stains that need spot treatment

01

Step 01

Sweep or Vacuum Regularly

5-10 min

The single best thing you can do for your tiles is sweep them regularly. Grit and sand act like sandpaper under foot traffic and tyres.

  • Use a broom, leaf blower or shop vacuum to clear dust, dirt and loose debris
  • Pay attention to tile joints where grit tends to accumulate
  • For ventilated tiles, a leaf blower pushes debris through the drainage holes

Pro tip

A quick sweep once a week prevents build-up. It takes 5 minutes and makes a big difference over time.

02

Step 02

Mop with Warm Water

10-20 min

For a deeper clean, a warm water mop lifts grime that sweeping misses. A small amount of dish soap is all you need — no special products required.

  • Fill a bucket with warm water and a small amount of mild detergent (dish soap works perfectly)
  • Mop the floor in sections, wringing out the mop regularly
  • Avoid bleach, ammonia or abrasive cleaners — they can dull the tile surface
  • Rinse with clean water if you used detergent

Pro tip

Our tiles are chemical-resistant, so most mild cleaners are safe. Just avoid anything abrasive that could scratch the surface.

03

Step 03

Spot-Clean Oil and Grease Stains

5-10 min

Oil drips, brake fluid and grease are common in garages. Our tiles are chemical-resistant, so these stains won’t cause permanent damage — they just need a targeted clean.

  • Apply degreaser or isopropyl alcohol directly to the stain
  • Let it sit for 2–3 minutes, then scrub with a soft-bristle brush
  • Wipe clean with a damp cloth and rinse the area
  • For tyre marks, a standard tyre mark remover or citrus-based degreaser works well

Pro tip

Clean spills as soon as you notice them. Fresh oil wipes off easily; dried oil takes more effort.

04

Step 04

Rinse Vented Tiles with a Hose

5 min

Vented tiles (ULTRAGRID, ULTRACORE, ULTRAFLUX) are the easiest to clean — a garden hose flushes debris and grime straight through the ribs and edge channels.

  • For vented tiles (ULTRAGRID, ULTRACORE, ULTRAFLUX), simply hose the floor — water drains through the ribs and edge channels
  • For solid-surface tiles (ULTRATUFF, ULTRATONE), squeegee excess water towards the garage door
  • Leave the garage door open for 15–30 minutes to air-dry

Pro tip

If your garage has a floor drain, aim the hose towards it. Otherwise, just push water towards the entrance.

Cleaning Questions

Yes, but use a wide fan nozzle and keep the pressure under 1500 PSI. High-pressure narrow nozzles can damage the tile surface at close range.

Tyre marks are caused by hot rubber transferring to the tile surface. Apply a citrus-based degreaser or isopropyl alcohol, let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub with a soft brush. Most tyre marks come off easily.

Sweep weekly and mop monthly for a garage with regular vehicle use. Adjust based on your traffic — a showroom garage may need less frequent cleaning, while a busy workshop may need more.

No. Our tiles are chemical-resistant — oil, fuel, brake fluid and solvents won’t cause permanent damage. Just clean the stain with degreaser and a brush.
